Brett Mufson is President and Partner of Fontainebleau Development, a real estate and hospitality developer with over 20 years of experience conceiving, capitalizing, delivering, and operating iconic, capital-intensive luxury and hospitality assets. He brings a long-term owner's mindset to his work, grounded in real estate development, capital allocation, and brand stewardship, with hands-on leadership building and operating complex destination platforms at scale.
Mufson's leadership lens has been refined through leading projects from concept through execution, stabilization, and ongoing operations—aligning development vision with financial performance, guest experience, and stakeholder expectations. He is particularly effective in environments that require patient capital, disciplined growth, and high-visibility brand management.
As President, Mufson is responsible for the strategic direction of the company, overall management of the firm, and the pursuit of new development opportunities, corporate acquisitions, and financing activities across all business platforms. In line with Fontainebleau's mission to create dynamic, multifaceted spaces that connect people and enrich their communities, he is committed to developing customer-centric growth strategies that enhance individual asset performance and drive business-line expansion.
Prior to Fontainebleau, Mufson served as Head of Acquisitions and Capital Markets for Witkoff, a private real estate and development company headquartered in New York City with offices in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Miami. He successfully led more than $7 billion in development and real property transactions across virtually every sector of the real estate industry. Mufson began his career at Bear Stearns in the mortgage structured products group, focusing on highly complex conduit originations and real estate financings. He then joined LoanCore Capital, a privately held asset management firm focused on commercial real estate credit, where he was responsible for originating, structuring, and underwriting commercial real estate loans across the country.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Mufson is actively involved in numerous real estate, art, and charitable organizations, including the Whitney Museum and Mount Sinai Hospital. He is a member of the executive committee of the Zell-Lurie Real Estate Center at The Wharton School and sits on the board of Gibson Avenue Capital, a value-add real estate investment firm specializing in the acquisition of manufactured home communities, retail, and office assets.
